Overview

The Countertop Company supplies and installs one-piece molded and custom laminate countertops for cabinet shops, contractors, and several large retailers. The company is a result of a 1999 merger between two countertop companies, and currently they operate out of three locations across British Columbia.

Products & Services

In addition to supplying and installing countertops, the company differentiates itself from competitors by providing additional services such as under-mount sink installations, removal of existing plumbing, and the installation of dishwashers. Laminate is an extremely versatile material that is easily adapted to the look and style of any kitchen; it can also be made to imitate the look of granite or marble at a fraction of the cost.

Market

The countertop industry is increasingly shifting away from granite and marble countertops; this is largely due to the cost being $80 to $100 per square foot installed. Granite is also very sensitive to acidic or oily food products, whereas laminate is much more durable and requires less maintenance. It is estimated that laminate is being used in 75 percent of all new kitchens; this trend is largely due to the cost being one-fifth of the cost for granite or marble.
